The Big 4

I can't believe this my little girl is already 4! I love it, but I hate it!

She is the only other person I know that loves her birthday as much as I love mine. She asked about it months before and was convinced she wanted a Hannah Montana party. Once we got to the store it was so cute to see how torn she was between the princess stuff and the Hannah Montana stuff. I had to fill the cart with decorations for both and I saw her cute little face look back and forth between the two for a full 20 minutes before she finally settled on the Princess stuff.

For about 2 months, every time I tried to get her to do just about anything, she would tell me that when she turned four she would do it. She usually said this when I wanted her to practice her walking, or would encourage her to go on the potty.

So the morning of her birthday I went into her room to get her out of bed and she already had a big smile on her face cause she knew what special day it was. The first thing I said was "Brooklyn! YOU are finally 4"! Well she sat up and got a confused look on her face and looked down at her legs and said "But mom...I still can't walk".

I thought it was so cute at first, but as the day went on, she got more and more upset about it. I guess I hadn't really seen it through her eyes before, but I figured out that every four year old that she knows walks, so she just thought that that was the magic age that all kids start to walk.

So I finally told her that we would work on it really hard, but that it really didn't matter if she ever walked because she had a really cool wheelchair. Well she just about started crying and yelling "It's not OK! I have to walk mom, I have to"!

It really started to break my heart and I realized that it won't be long before she starts to realize that she doesn't do things the same as the other kids. Right now she just thinks she is the luckiest kid cause she has a wheelchair and the other kids have to walk!

Her party was so much fun. I went against my better judgment and made the cake this year. I trusted the lady on the Betty Crocker video that said making a castle cake is really quite simple. 4 containers of frosting, 3 cake mixes, 9 eggs, and 15 hours of cake making later, I wanted to throw it against the wall, and honestly the thought of eating it made me nauseous (of course I still managed to eat a piece)

All that mattered was Brooklyn loved it!

Favorite Gifts:
She loved her baby she got that goes pee in a diaper, her princess barbie, her cash register, and her Princess and the Frog movie.

This little girl loves:

Putting on concerts where she spins around on her bum to dance

Taylor Swift

Miley Cyrus

Painting her Nails

Pretending she is her cool aunt Noel....all day long. I actually have to call her Noel most days!
Wearing my shoes on her hands as she "walks" around the house

(Wonder what she wished for)

Love you Brookie! You have the most beautiful smile and funniest sense of humor. You are really so stinkin smart and remember EVERYTHING! You make everyone around you smile. You don't have to walk to do that!

Now stop growing up!
